Zed is a great pick for the mid lane with outstanding potential and burst damage. He likes to split push and roams around the map looking for single targets.

Mid
If you are a ranged champion, poke and harass Zed before level 5. When Zed has his ultimate, he will become dangerous and can destroy you at any time. At this point, you need to play safe and build defensive items to prevent explosive damage. Request a gank from the jungle and notify the team when Zed moves to another lane.
Top

How to counter Zed ?

When your health is still low, you should go home. Zed’s passive makes him strong against enemies with low health.
You can avoid Zed’s Razor Shuriken, do not stand near soldiers because Zed will take advantage of the minion farm to poke you.
Stay out of Living Shadow’s range to prevent Zed from damaging you.
When Zed uses his ultimate, try to dodge Razor Shuriken so he doesn’t do much damage.
Use CC or poke Zed when he uses Living Shadow to escape.
