Riven’s Combo
Best combo for Riven:
Skill 3 -> AA -> Skill 2 -> Skill 1 -> AA -> Skill 1 (2nd reset) -> AA -> Skill 1 (3rd reset) -> AA
This combo ensures that you stick to your target and lock them down while applying the full Skill 1 combo, together with auto-attacks in between.
Combo all of your Skill 1 casts with auto-attacks when trading to maximize damage output
When you cast Skill 1, it will automatically go on cooldown for a split second. Use that time to cast a normal attack, and then follow up with an auto-attack.
Use Skill 3 -> Skill 2 in quick succession
You basically dash in using Skill 3, then quickly stun everybody around by using Skill 2.
The ultimate Riven combo Skill 1 -> Skill 1 -> Skill 3 -> Ultimate -> Flash -> Skill 1 -> AA -> Skill 4 (ultimate – second cast) -> Skill 2
This would be one of your main all-in combos. You want to use it together with Flash to ensure you’re exactly on your enemy’s tail and they cannot getaway. With the second Skill 4 cast, you’ll have all the additional range and damage to finish them off.

How to play:
Riven is a top lane fighter. She does ok in the early game and can do well in the laning phase thanks to all her mobility from Broken Wings and Valor . Once you get to level 5 and have access to Blade of the Exile, you can get a lot more burst damage off and try to kill the enemies. Riven also has insane 1 vs 1 potential and is great if you can split push in a side lane.
Riven can also be played in the jungle and mid lane, make sure to check the alternative build at the top of the page! With Riven in the jungle, the build and playstyle are the same. The only difference is that you will need to make sure you change to the Smite summoner spell and the runes are slightly different. In the mid lane, the build and play style are the same.
Riven’s Abilities
(Passive) Runic Blade
When Riven uses an ability, it charges her blade up to 3 times. Attacks expend charges to deal additional physical damage.
The blade can only be stacked up to 3 times so it’s important to auto-attack in between using all of your abilities to get the most potential from the extra damage granted by the passive.
(Skill 1) Broken Wings
Riven slashes in a direction up to 3 times. Each slash deals physical damage to nearby enemies.
The third slash crosses terrain so you can jump over pretty much every wall to either escape or get closer to the enemies. Also, it knocks up nearby enemies for just under a second.
Most of the time you want to charge up your Broken Wings twice so you can get a quick knock up into a stun from Ki Burst.
(Skill 2) Ki Burst
Riven stuns nearby enemies for just under a second, dealing physical damage. Ki Burst has a really small radius so it’s important to make sure that you are on top of enemies to guarantee the stun hits.
Make sure to use Broken Wings and Valor to help you with that. Ki Burst also has a really fast cast time so you can stun as soon as you press the ability.
(Skill 3) Valor
Riven dashes in a direction and gains a shield absorbing damage for just over a second. It’s important to note that with Valor you cannot cross terrain like the 3rd attack of Broken Wings.
It’s important to use this spell when you are about to take damage as the shield does not stay on Riven for long. You can also use Valor to get that extra distance to land the knock up from Broken Wings or stun from Ki Burst.
(Ultimate) Blade of the Exile
Riven expands her blade for 15 seconds, granting bonus attack damage, increasing the range of her attacks and damaging abilities, and granting a single cast of Wind Slash.
Make sure you use Blade of the Exile at the start of every fight even if it turns into a short trade as the cooldown is relatively low and its important to get that extra damage.
Wind Slash launches a shockwave dealing physical damage based on the enemies’ missing health. This means that you need to make sure you use it at the end of the fight when enemies are low on health as you will deal more damage.
